Why use a Battery Management system (BMS) when building Lithium Batteries? Lithium batteries have a very flat voltage curve, witch means individual cells can have a very similar voltage but could significantly differ in state of charge (SOC), therefore a BMS is essential in constructing Lithium batteries (in fact not an option but a requirement) the BMS will individually track each cell and make certain they stay in balance by varying the charge to the cells.
